John David Myers, 80, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Illinois. He was born on November 28, 1944, in Carmi, the son of Arthur Maurice "Si" and Beatrice Elizabeth (Hall) Myers. John attended and graduated from Deland High School in Deland, FL in 1962 where he had a stellar athletic career. He played center and defensive tackle on the football team and was named an All American his senior year. John was also a part of the 1961, Deland High School state championship baseball team as a catcher. John hit two home runs in the championship game to help lead the Bulldogs to the title. He went on to attend McCook Junior College in McCook, NE on a football scholarship. In 2015, John was inducted into the Deland High School Sports Hall of Fame.      He worked for the Illinois Secretary of State Police where he was an investigator for 29 years until he retired in 2000.
